It may not be official yet, but GTA VI rumors include a female lead and a release date that will have players embarking on a similar experience in the next two to three years. The hype surrounding GTA V is not even fully over yet, but rumors are already sparking about the next installment.
- Rumors suggest a female lead, to be voiced by actress Eva Mendes (The Fast and Furious franchise)
- Ryan Gosling (Drive) could be voicing the male lead
- The earliest release date suggested is 2018 for consoles and 2020 for PC
- Reddit users claim that Rockstar will be combining all GTA maps into one “super map”
There is little doubt that GTA V was a hit since the moment of its release. Was it perfect? No. But it offered exactly what we expected: a huge world to explore, explosive action, and an interesting enough storyline to peruse. However, there was an added twist that placed players into the shoes of not just one, but three main protagonists. It changed the dynamics and how gamers viewed the story, offering variety of characters, choices, and personalities.
In true Rockstar fashion, they could be looking to continuingly changing things up a bit. And making it bigger, of course.
Rumors surrounding the sixth installment of the popular franchise are pointing to the possibility of a female lead for once. According to co-creator of the series, Dan Houser, they are entirely open to have a female protagonist. So far, they simply haven’t found a story that will properly fit that sort of character, but they have been considering it for a long time. It’s just one of the many things on their mind.
While the all-male cast of protagonists is certainly not the most politically incorrect aspect of GTA, it could be interesting to see how the change would be perceived. It could add an interesting variation to the story. And, if rumors are true, actress Eva Mendes would be up to voice the upcoming female lead. Among the list of several questionable romantic comedies, Mendes has been in her share of action movies, such as the Fast and Furious franchise, Ghost Rider, and Once Upon A Time in Mexico. It’s certainly a type of energy that could fit the part.
Even more rumors continue to surround Mendes, as her real life partner, actor Ryan Gosling, could be up for voicing the male lead. Gosling himself has a similar record, littered with romantic movies, but with a few choice decent action movies such as Drive or Gangster Squad to make his potential involvement more compelling. Given that the two actors are a couple in real life, the chemistry is already there, so there could be a potential Bonnie and Clyde storyline in the making.
However, here’s hoping that Rockstar could twist it into something more original.
As far as the release date is concerned, it’s estimated that GTA VI will come out at some point between 2018 and 2019 on consoles, with a potential 2020 release on PC. That’s a long while to wait, but it will give Rockstar plenty of time to develop their new game.
Some Reddit users have suggested that the developer is planning mixing and putting together all GTA maps of Liberty City, Vice City, and Los Santos together in one giant super map. That will take a lot of thinking even though the broad layout is already created. That and a new transportation system should be in order to travel such incredible distances.
