Intense, fast breathing physical activities might be the answer for delaying death. New research has shown that people who prefer heart pumping exercises and activities might live longer than the one who work out more softly.
If you want to live longer, long walks or mild exercise wont be helpful. Studies have shown that longer life equals hardcore exercises, the one that make you breathe hard, make your heart beat fast and your to body sweat badly.
An Australian study conducted on middle aged and elder people, has shown that people need strong physical activity to keep death as far as possible. The research has been published in the JAMA International Medicine journal and showed the results of the studies on 204,542 people over the period of six years.
For the time the study took place, 7,400 of the people taking part in the study, have passed away.
The participants of the study, who stated that they were working out 149 (2 hours and a half)minutes per week had 34% smaller chances to reduce the risk of death, compared to the ones who said they were not working out at all. The ones who were working out 299 minutes (5 hours)per week had 47% lower death risk while the participants who worked out more than 300 minute per week had 54% smaller chances of death.
What the study wanted to point out, was the fact that the participants who admitted to include in their physical activity, serious cardio sessions like aerobics or running, showed lower death risks up to 13% smaller, compared to the ones who’s physical activity included mild exercises and activities.
The effects of the study showed the same, regardless if the participant was man or woman and were directly proportionate with the total time they spent on physical activity.
According to the study, no matter if you are healthy or you suffer from health conditions like heart disease of diabetes, managing to get your body used to some daily/weekly sessions of intense physical activity would highly improve life expectancy. However, the study warns people of a certain age and those suffering from different health problems, should consult their doctors before they embark in intense exercise routine.
Educating people on this important matter and helping them to create this habit in their lives, could be implemented by public health organisations or clinics, explained the co-author of the study doctor Melody Ding, from the University of School of Public Health from Sydney.
Presently, the World Health Organisation and health officials from the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom, advises adults to work out minimum of 2 hours and a half of mild physical activity per week or at least 75 minutes of intense physical activity per week.
It all depends on each person and the type and intensity of exercising they can handle. But once you have started your entire system will improve its functions and will decrease the death rates at an early age.
