In North Dakota, the medical marijuana system appears to be improved. The legislature there is still working on solving the issues. In November, about 63% of voters accepted a new measure legalizing medical cannabis in North Dakota. Nevertheless, the ballot measure consisted of technical omissions and errors. This measure did not legalize marijuana use and possession for medical applications.
- Legislators in North Dakota are searching to solve the problems regarding marijuana use and possession.
- The new ballot measure only stated errors and omissions and it needed to be changed.
- Legislators stated that patients who have a medical prescription for the drug, have access to it.
Thus, anyone who possessed this drug, even if it were they legally purchased medical cannabis, would have been charged. As a solution to this issue, the Legislature embarked on a bipartisan effort to develop necessary modifications to assure people that those who have a written medical prescription from a physician are granted access to high-quality medical marijuana.
When creating this bill, sponsors searched for a recommendation from the attorney general and the Department of Health. During committee hearings, sponsors also hoped to receive public input. Before voting for the bill on the House floor, people who implemented the new measure continued to support the revised version of SB 2344.
Legislators take their responsibility to enforce citizens’ will, being there to represent their interests. They claim that they have struggled to do things right from the first place. The amended version of SB 2344 states that patients who use medical cannabis to treat a condition or an illness will have access to it. Moreover, the bill assures patients that the medical marijuana they use came from safe places and was developed uniformly.
They are bound to restrict access to this drug, annihilating delivery and sale methods to disallow the drug’s illegal use. The original ballot measure was made up of the laws collected from different states. Legislatures need to do a significant revision to make sure Measure 5 no longer contains unfortunate enforcement. They needed to revise it to be by the North Dakota Century Code.
Besides the imperative adjustments, SB 2344 also contains provisions which are meant to fuel public safety, especially the minors. The edited legislation lists as a priority the increase in efficiency and the effectiveness of the Medical Marijuana System while granting access for those who need medical marijuana to treat their illnesses.
The system is bound to start with only two manufacturers which can cultivate the plants and eight dispensaries. Nevertheless, the Health Department system can add more manufacturers if necessary.
