On Sunday afternoon a one-year old baby died on his way to the Cleveland hospital. He was killed by a 3-year-old child who shot him in the face with an unattended handgun.
Calvin Williams, Police Chief of Cleveland said in a press conference on Sunday that it was a very sad day for Cleveland. He confirmed that the 3-year-old boy was the one who fired the shot which killed the baby. The incident took place inside a home from the east side of the city. He explained that the police are investigating where the gun came from and how this unfortunate event happened.
The Police Chief also drew attention to the fact that the fascination people all around the country have when it comes to firearms has to stop. Williams remarked that this is another senseless loss of life caused by guns. He warns that people should really pay attention to what is happening around them. According to him guns should be taken out of the communities on state, local and national levels because it only brings misfortune.
Not many details are known about the shooting, but according to Williams there was at least one adult inside the house when the tragedy happened. The person who left the gun unsecured will most likely be charged. Neighbors say that the mother lived with at least three small children in the house. They described the children as being nice and charming. Nobody expected something like this to happen. Neighbor Larry Simpson declared that the family was really nice and remarked that the event was a shame. After the shooting happened the mother is said to have started screaming and burst into screaming on the back porch of the house.
The 1-year-old baby was identified as Braylon Robinson, but the names of the parents have not been made public. Williams commented: “A 3-year-old cannot be held accountable for a tragedy like this”
He explained that somebody must have brought the weapon in the house in the first place and that person must have probably known where the firearm was but did nothing to safeguard it. The person found guilty of this will be held accountable for the incident.
