Doctors and scientists are providing mothers some advice concerning breastfeeding. They have argued that parents should not use pacifiers with their babies in their first days of life. Moms are advised to breastfeed their babies as long as possible. The report developed by the US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has proved that it is recommended for doctors and medical staff to encourage expectant mothers or new ones to breastfeed their newborns.
- Doctors advise women to breastfeed their newborns for at least one year.
- Some women are forced to gave up breastfeeding, getting back to work.
Unfortunately, not all hospital policies have the allowance to make such remarks regarding patients’ private lives, thus bringing little benefit to the cause. Mothers need to understand that babies ought to be breastfed for nutritional reasons. This will also boost and strengthen the newborn’s immune system.
Breastfeeding helps mothers determine the occurrence of a strong bond with their infant. Another benefit of this activity, this time concerning the mother, is that it nurtures the process of weight loss of the kilos gained when pregnant. Another report in the Journal of the American Medical Association brings evidence that breastfeeding provides major health support for the baby and minor health support for mothers.
However, studies have shown that almost half of the women in the US have stopped breastfeeding their kids after six months. The American Academy of Pediatrics strongly recommends breastfeeding on a daily basis at least until the baby reaches the age of 1. Another well-known organization like the World Health one supports the idea that mothers should keep this connection with their children until they turn two years old.
Currently, only 22% of American babies are breastfed for six months. Women should be aware of the fact that is process is natural. Even if at the beginning this could seem to be a little complicated, once you start it, you will feel much more connected with your little angel. At the onset of this process, newborns may need help in learning how to latch on. In time, everything will get easier.
Unluckily, the need of getting back to work forces mothers to gave up breastfeeding. Another drag that counts in the detriment of breastfeeding is the existence of some formula which seems to be more convenient for some parents. Women should be aware of the fact that those methods are not helping their baby get the necessary nutrients.
