More improvements will be delivered by Microsoft, and all Xbox One controllers will have remapping enabled soon, only to add to the number of features the company is boasting.
- The Xbox One Elite controller will be launched on October 27th, for $150
- Microsoft is also releasing an Elite Bundle for $500, that includes the Elite controller and a Xbox One with 1TB storage space
- Via Twitter, an Xbox executive has confirmed that remappable buttons of the controller will be available soon for everyone
This may be Xbox One’s biggest season yet. The company has announced numerous features for this year and the near future, albeit with a vague “soon” date. It seems that Microsoft has pulled up its sleeves and doing all the work to surpass their biggest rival, Sony’s PlayStation 4.
And, with holiday season coming, a battle should occur.
Xbox One already has a few neat features that could attract more users. For one, it’s the streaming to Windows 10 devices, such as PCs or tablets. It will essentially better connect your gadgets that are running on Microsoft’s latest operating system. It’s indeed a nice touch that might see to multiple uses for avid streamers.
The second interesting update will be the Xbox 360 backwards compatibility that will allow users to play their old games on the new and improved hardware of Xbox One. They have already complied a long list that is adding more and more titles by the week. It includes big names such as Borderlands, Gears of War and Shadow Complex.
Not to mention all the exclusive games, like Halo 5 and Rise of the Tomb Raider, the latter complete with its own bundle.
Microsoft has announced that Xbox One Elite controllers will officially launch later this month, on October 27th, that will bring players a more customizable experience. For the price of $149.99, the new controller will be made of higher quality material, with extra trigger switches, and replacement buttons and thumbsticks.
However, its most notable option remains the ability to remap the gamepad’s functions. Players will be able to switch and change commands in order to better apply them to their playing style. Be it a shooter or an RPG, each person with an Elite controller will be able to customize it as they please.
This has been a standard feature for Sony’s PlayStation 4, which has led a user ask why Xbox One is offering the same service with restrictions.
Xbox executive, Mike Ybarra, has responded that it will indeed become part of all controllers “soon”. While that is a rather vague reply, it has Xbox One fans excited that it will no longer be part of just the ‘elite’ bunch, who either can’t afford or don’t want a new controllers. It’s unknown when the update will come, how, or if it will cost extra.
What is for certain though, is that it’s in the works.
In the meantime, interested players can purchase the Xbox One Elite controller, or pay the price for the Elite Bundle, which will offer the ‘luxury gamepad’ along with 1TB in storage in a new console at the price of $499.99.
