Amazon could be facing the heat for its spending spree. However the business which is driving a major portion of its commercial activities and there is little evidence of it waning.
AWS which is Amazon’s unit which provides cloud computing services to enterprises has unveiled several new offering at its annual conference in Las Vegas this week. These include a new database service called Aurora. It seems Amazon will be locking horns with big tech powerhouses such as Oracle.
This was evident in the keynote address by AWS head Andy Jassy in which he compared his company’s approach to his competitors and promised that his company will not act in a knee jerk fashion and call on the last day of the quarter to boost financial results. He further stated that AWS is focusing on the customer needs and intends to maintain customer’s loyalty for a long time.
