Google I/O 2015 is one of the greatest tech events of the year and it will take place starting from Thursday in San Francisco. We are all eagerly waiting for the new announcements, new releases and new ideas that will be born at the major event.
Google is expected to showcase some new products and announce some major updates to its existing products. The event will last two days and the internet already shouts with enthusiasm, leaking some interesting pieces of news.
It appears that this year Google will unveil its next mobile and tablet operating system under the name of Android M. The latest OS update is expected to arrive with native fingerprint authentication support, allowing users to log in to supported apps without a password.
Android M is the natural new name for Google’s OS, as the guys are known for using letters in alphabetical order for all their operating systems update. Last year it was Android Lollipop, before that we had Android KitKat and now Android M is making its way directly inside the software of our high-end devices.
Android M is the highlight of the Google I/O event, believed to be one of the biggest announcements of the company’s annual developer conference. Nexus phone will be the first device to benefit from the fingerprint authentication feature. Earlier rumors suggested that the fingerprint scanner will be featured on the latest Nexus 6 smartphone, to be more specific.
Other Android handsets already feature the new authentication system. Samsung Galaxy S6, Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge and HTC One M9 all support the new system upgrade.
This special feature will most probably become very popular among cell phone users, with an increase in the number of OEM’s launching supporting hardware in handsets, to attract more customers that are craving for novelty and high-end technology.
Other features set to be present along with the new Android M are multi-screen and multi-window functionalities, something similar with what Apple has previously announced. Also, Android M is expected to come with a Theme engine. Both features have limited inclusion in Android Open Source Project, which makes the upgrade a bit difficult. Usually, mobile phone producers implement the new features in their own ways. Anyways it don’t matter that much who does what, as long as we will all benefit from all the news Google and Android M will bring us to the table.
The voice access feature is also ready to be revealed and expected to be presented on the first day of the event. This particular feature will let users control applications with the help of voice commands.
Another exciting piece of news concerns those who are passionate about photography. Google will most likely launch a standalone photos app, which is actually a new online-based photo sharing and storage service at the upcoming event. Google has been trying for some time to work on an exclusive service focused on images independent of Google+.
