A recent experiment conducted by researchers at the University of Utah has proven that back pain therapy needs time to become effective. The current finding accounts only for early symptoms of lower back pain, which are more likely to subside by itself in time.

Early symptoms of lower back pain presuppose a general sense of discomfort in the lumber area. Patients may also experience pain in their stomach and feet, as well as numbness in the inferior and the superior members. Back pains cans range between acute, sub-acute and chronic, but for the current experiment, scientists have only considered the early onset of the disease.
When patients are diagnosed with early back pain, they are usually asked to follow special therapy sessions, but researchers from the University of Utah think this method might be somewhat outdated. According to Julie Fritz, the lead author of the study, physical therapy is not effective in this particular case, patients are better off if they simply ignore the pain and relax.
The conclusion was reached after 200 people were asked to take part in a medical experiment. Participants were recommended physical therapy or no physical therapy because the lead author of the study wanted to determine whether there is a difference between the two.
At the end of the first month, scientists have found out that there was no actual difference between the two types of therapies. The experiment was repeated after one month, three months and a year, but medical experts found no improvement in the condition of the patients.
Based on these findings, Julie Fritz has declared that time is the best treatment for lower back pains. Patients, who followed physical therapy sessions took as much time to recover as patients, who simply relaxed and had moderate physical activities.
Researchers warn people that this new finding is only valid for early stages of lower back pains. Patients, who suffer from acute pains should follow the suggestions of their medical experts. The rest of the patients can prevent lower back pain illnesses if they practice sports regularly and remain active as much as possible.
