Treyarch announced the title of the new Call of Duty DLC
After many rumors circulated regarding the new Call of Duty: Black Ops III DLC, the developers Treyarch have finally confirmed them. They will indeed bring back the zombie maps, which is suggested by the DLC’s name: Zombies Chronicles. On May 8th, they will reveal more about the upcoming title.
- The DLC brings content from the previous games.
- Treyarch wanted to get newer fans used to the zombie concept.
- The game gets released only for PS4 at first.
Jason Blundell, the leader of the studio which will be releasing the game, revealed that they would be bringing a map pack with the DLC. These maps will offer content from previous titles in the Call of Duty franchise, such as World at War, Black Ops, and Black Ops II.
More precisely, the DLC will include the following content. From World at War, it will feature Nacht der Untoten, Kino der Toten, Verruckt, and Shi no Numa. The Black Ops content will bring back Shangri-la, Moon, and Ascension, while Origin comes from Black Ops II.
Blundell explained why they chose to bring back the maps from the older games. He knows that many Call of Duty players are recent additions on the fan list, so most of them have only started experiencing the universe of the game starting with Black Ops II. Therefore, they thought they could introduce them in the world of the zombies by showing them where everything started.
The release of the Zombies Chronicles is set for May 16th, but only for PS4. They will also produce the game for PC and Xbox, but the date has not been announced yet. However, Treyarch promised they would reveal more on May 8th.
It is a bit peculiar that Black Ops III will feature a DLC. Usually, games from the Call of Duty series no longer receive DLCs after the release of the next title. However, Treyarch declared they wanted to add more content to Black Ops III.
