During recent discoveries, researchers have undoubtedly arrived to the conclusion that, there is in fact a connection between obesity and an acute sense of smell. Rumors have it that each and every day, people are starting to have cravings more often and for greater amounts of food.
Even though, the lack of exercise can also be seen an important cause, which is to blame for the condition of overweight people, not being able to manage what we put in our bodies is still the leading reason for this.
Fat people of course, tend to have a more refined smell than normal weight people do, therefore it is seen as impossible for an overweight person to easily refuse a night out in town, which can bring them face to face with a perfect slice of pizza, a KFC bucket, sweets and many more delights that are eye-catching.
Within the University of Yale, one of the latest studies have made it possible to explain that, in fact, the ability to smell food is directly related to what we end up consuming.
Within this experiment, scientists have also discovered that people with a higher body-mass or ‘BMI’, have developed a special quality which, allows them to easily detect food, better than a slim person. Being carried out with almost 100 volunteers, participants have been asked to imagine not only the smell of a type of foods, but also the visual images.
According to these findings, statistics show that obese people in particular, also make use of their imagination; thus, becoming possible to better picture the aroma of any dish they wish. Just like the sense of smell, intense imagination will always seem to force overweight people into desiring specific cuisine items.
In general, people who always feel the need to feed and who can easily picture both image and smells, have a greater chance and risk of becoming obese. When having a strong feeling of hunger, each and every person starts craving for certain items that, in the end would only end up causing him/her to consume more calories than expected, and which will finally end with an add to their body fat.
Even though the findings cannot entirely explain why obese people cannot suppress their craving, on the other hand, it has been proved that indeed, an acute sense of smell can very rapidly force a person into consuming goods, even though in reality, their bodies do not require it at all.
