The news that the wife of the leader of the self-proclaimed “Islamic State” (IS) terror group, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi has been received with mixed reactions. The identities of the purported wife and daughter of the self proclaimed caliph are now being questioned. Lebanon’s interior minister has stated that DNA tests show that the captives are related to the ‘IS’ leader al-Baghdadi. The captives can provide details of the reclusive self-styled “Islamic State’s” leader.
Lebanon’s Interior Minister Nohad Machnouk stated that DNA tests have revealed that Lebanese authorities were holding a daughter to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
The woman named Saja al-Dulaimi, was not al-Baghdadi’s wife as initially stated but was a concubine of al-Baghdadi. The latest revelations lay bare the promiscuity of ISIS fighters who are fighting to establish an Islamic state with strict Islamic laws being enforced.
Saja al-Dulaimiwas arrested with two boys and a girl and DNA tests have proved that the girl was then child of al-Baghdadi.
Machnouk said, “Dulaimi is not Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi’s wife currently. She has been married three times: first to a man from the former Iraqi regime, with whom she had two sons. Six years ago she married Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi for three months, and she had a daughter with him. Now, she is married to a Palestinian and she is pregnant with his child.”
Machnouk did not reveal the nationality of the arrested woman but said that the children were kept in a day care center while Dulaimi was being interrogated.
ISIS has until now not commented on the arrest of the former wife of its chief. The Syrian al Qaeda affiliate, the al-Nusra Front, issued a statement condemning the arrest. Sulaimi is believed to be an active member of the al-Nusra front.
Lebanon has also arrested the wife of Anas Sharkas, a senior figure within al-Nusra.
