Even though most people know how many benefits they have if they exercise regularly, U.S. adults do not seem to enjoy this activity. According to a new study, made by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 31 million Americans older than 50 years are not active.

If people would be aware of how important is to exercise regularly, they will feel better and have fewer health issues. A major issue is that children do similar things as they parents. If they see that nobody in their family is doing physical activity or eating healthy food, they will do the same. This is why there are so many overweight persons in the United States. Adults should be the first example for future generations.
What are the benefits of exercising as much as you can? First of all, it reduces the risk of premature death. Think of chronic disease, heart disease, mental issues. You can prevent all these just by doing physical activities. When you are older, your health is at higher risk. This happens because your system is not able to protect you as it should. Moreover, all that fast food you are eating today is going to show its disadvantages when you are older.
Another important thing is that you will look better and feel younger. We all enjoy when someone is telling us that we look good, that we have a great body shape. This can happen no matter what age you are if you exercise regularly.
Do not forget that being sick means more money on health bills. It seems that adults older than 50 years are having health care costs of 860 billion dollars each year. Think of what you can do with all that money you spend on medication. Most of the chronic diseases can be prevented if you exercise regularly.
Women exercise less than men. Moreover, the study showed that more adults with a chronic disease were inactive, compared with those who have no health issue. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is trying to find ways to improve the situation. They want to make older people understand the benefits of exercising.
