Study ranks the traumatic head injuries in children as one of the major cause of brain injuries. Falls constituted one of the biggest causes of brain injuries in young kids up to the age of 12. In teens the head injuries were mostly caused by assaults, car accidents or sports related injuries.

The study in which 40000 children were analyzed for head trauma was published in the New England Journal of Medicine. The researchers studied the data on kids with head trauma of all types and severity which includes normal neurological status to deep coma.
