Flat Earther Mike Hughes Launches Himself into Space to Prove Theory

After multiple delays, flat Earther Mike Hughes blasted off into the sky in his own rocket to prove that the flat Earth theory is correct. Hughes’ efforts to prove the decades-old conspiracy theory date back to 2014.

In 2014, the self-taught rocket scientist said he launched a home-made rocket into space but failed to offer any evidence. This year, he was finally able to launch himself into space and make a short clip to prove it. It is highly unlikely that his endeavor will change scientists’ minds over the issue, though.

The scientist’s rocket liftoff near Amboy, Calif., traveled nearly 1,900 into the sky to return to Earth in the Mojave Desert. Hughes had been warned over the lack of safety measures of his vessel, but medics who assessed his health after the return said he would be fine.

Flat Earther Mike Hughes Plans Another Launch

His initial plan was to have a liftoff in November. He had to delay the launch multiple times ever since because of troubles with federal authorities. The Bureau of Land Management barred him from launching himself into space from public land. He also had some engineering issues, which he managed to fix on his own.

• The launch took place from private land on March 24, 2018.
• Hughes turned his mobile home into a launch pad and made sure that the pad stayed on private ground.

The inventor now plans to fly much higher. He envisions a home-brew balloon that will serve as a launch pad to a rocket which will take him 68 miles into the sky. If he’s successful, he would reach the limit where the space begins. The next launch is scheduled for August this year.

Experts underlined that Hughes’ plan would fail if the Flat Earth theory were correct because the gravity would pull him straight down if he didn’t have the perfect placement.
