A young girl from Oregon who has been battling with cancer for numerous years was able to have her fifth birthday celebration as a princess in an event planned to be a birthday, prom and wedding all into one big affair.
The parents of Lila May Schow decided to throw the girl the huge event after her physicians discovered there were no more options to treat the cancer, said Ryan Schow, the little girl’s father. Lila was diagnosed with 4 neuroblastoma at the age of 2. This is a type of cancer in which malignant cells are formed inside particular types of nerve tissue. Ryan Schow told the media that the little girl has gone through a number of grueling treatments in the last few years.
Lila’s father also said that the girl has been fighting ever since her diagnosis and that it’s been three years and over nine surgeries since then, not to mention the chemo-therapy treatments. He added that he and her mother decided to have the huge event in order to celebrate the life of their daughter on July 31. Schow said that they are not going to get the daddy-daughter dance or the prom dance.
Lila’s mother created a Facebook post regarding her daughter’s party and immediately after it was published they received hundreds of replies. They decided to make the party Cinderella-themed, seeing how Lila just loves princesses.
Schow said that they saw a huge outpouring inside the community and all over the state, for that matter. For the party themed after Cinderella, they had numerous bakers who appear on the Food Channel as well and they even got a horse and carriage that were donated in order for Lisa to make a great appearance at her party.
Hundreds of individuals showed up on the day of the event in order to honor Lisa.
Schow said that we hear much about numerous terrible things that happen and this is one of those times where people come together for just the right reasons. The father said that she loved the party and that he was astonished when he asked his daughter about her favorite part from the event.
The girl said that she enjoyed the princess-theme party but her favorite part was when her dad cried because he was happy. Schow said that when they did the daddy-daughter dance he couldn’t contain himself and just started to cry.
