The computer company IBM signs deal with Apache Spark, a recent press release informed on early Monday morning. The movement will offer improved cloud services to IBM’s customers and it will facilitate app usage on behalf of Internet enjoyers, the company explained after making its most recent decision public.
IBM has been elaborating new schemes and techniques in the past year to improve its services and to allure an increasing number of customers on its cloud-based services. The most significant movement that the company has made is the deal that the computer firm has signed with Apache Spark.
The two companies will work together in the following period so Spark would eventually be integrated in IBM’s Analytics and Commerce platforms. There are many advantages that this collaboration could trigger but the IBM Cloud platform will most likely register the most advantages, spokespersons have concluded.
There are many advantages that users will get from this collaboration on the long run. On the short run, however, analysts expect to see apps getting quickly improved. Online applications that rely on data processing will become faster with Apache Spark. Moreover, developers will find it a lot easier to develop intelligent apps based on data.
For the moment, IBM will simply integrate Spark on its analytics platform as the program is not yet suitable for Cloud. Once the necessary technology has been developed, Spark will also be used to facilitate data processing on IBM Cloud.
The workforce of the computer company will also suffer many modifications in the following period. According to the company’s recent declaration, 3,500 developers and researchers will work on Spark-related projects in the following period. These workers will be equally distributed among IBM’s 12 worldwide labs including Spark Technology Center in San Francisco.
The company has also disclosed that additional partnerships were signed in order to support Apache Spark. More specifically, IBM will closely work with AMPLab, DataCamp, MetiStream, Galvanize and Big Data University MOOC. These collaborations presuppose that approximately 1 million scientists and data engineers will carry out tasks for IBM in the upcoming months.
Apache Spark is a computing platform developed by engineers at AMPLab at UC Berkeley. The program uses clusters of memory; therefore data processing becomes a lot easier and rapid.
