News are looking better and better for those hoping for the nation-wide legalization of medical marijuana, as important steps are made every day towards its destigmatization. For example, the world’s first kosher medical marijuana will be sold in New York starting this year.
- The Orthodox Union is the biggest kosher certification agency in the world
- The Union certified as being kosher over 250,000 products around the world
- The OU’s database contains information on over 200,000 ingredients found in various foods
- Brand like Coca Cola, Kraft/Nabisco, M&M, Procter & Gamble, H.J. Heinz, and Nestle are all certified by the OU
- They have representatives all over the world, like Europe, the Far East, the Middle East, South America, and even India
In a huge leap forward for the medical marijuana industry, the New York based company Vireo Health has sought, and received certification from the Orthodox Union.
These are huge news, as medical marijuana is still associated with a stigma, despite it missing its essential component that turns it into a recreational drug – the THC.
Vireo Health of New York is into the non-smokable medical marijuana industry, providing a series of products that help people go about their day.
The CBD in the medical marijuana has a very wide and extensive variety of applications, like in treating seizures, chronic pain, anxiety, glaucoma, and even insomnia.
In having their products approved by such a respectable institute as the Orthodox Union, the New York based company managed a huge step towards the populous and maybe someday even state approval of the medicinal herb.
Ari Hoffnung, the company’s CEO, stated in a press release that not only will the certification help them sell their products to the Jewish community; but that it also sends a very important message that they want out.
The message he was talking about is that regardless of your faith and background, using medical marijuana to diminish the pain and suffering caused by long lasting illnesses is not an embrace of so called “pot culture”, but it is your right as a human being first, and as a citizen second.
In accordance with the New York State Compassionate Care Act, the company wants to set the record straight regarding the use of just another medicinal product.
Vireo Health’s CEO continues to state that using the medicine you are in need of is not a sin, or a ‘chet’, but it is something imperative, a commandment, a mitzvah.
