After many months of speculations and rumors, LG announced the release of its first Windows Phone 8.1 smartphone.
The new smartphone is called LG Lancet Windows Phone 8.1 and can be found exclusively through Verizon Wireless.
LG said that its latest phone will hit the U.S. stores starting Mat 21 and it will cost $120 without contract.
Verizon stated that the new LG Lancet smartphone can also be bought from online stores.
When asked what are the selling points of the new LG smartphone , the mobile carrier responded that the new LG Lancet was designed to offer its users premium features but at the same time its price is one that can meet a tight budget.
The new LG Lancet Windows Phone 8.1 features a 4.5 inch LCD display and runs on a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor of 1.2GHz. LG has released any details about the value of the RAM.
The LG Lancet smartphone is equipped with 8 GB of storage and this could be expanded through its microSD card. The card allows up to 128GB of extra storage space.
The new LG phone features a rear camera of 8MP equipped with a LED flash, while the front camera is a 0.3 megapixel one.
LG has not mentioned whether the new Lancet smartphone will come with the much-anticipated Windows 10 update, which according to the rumors, is set to be released later this year.
However, some believe that many Windows Phone 8.1 handsets will be eligible for Microsoft’s upcoming software.
Concerning the connectivity features, LG Lancet comes with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, CDMA LTE (from Verizon) and a Micro USB. In terms of battery, the new smartphone runs on a 2100mAh battery.
The new LG Lancet will have features like KnockOn, which lets the user tap two times on the display in order to awake it, while QuickMemo allows the user to write down notes while engaged in a phone conversation.
And as many assumed, the new LG smartphone will also feature Cortana, the famous personal digital assistant designed by Microsoft.
Verizon said that the LG Lancet handset features Advanced Calling 1.0 capabilities, which makes it the first Windows phone available through the phone carrier equipped with HD Voice Calling.
Earlier this month, LG launched its G Flex 2 that features a curved display, while last year it released its 2015 flagship G4, which will be available on more than 180 carriers all around the world.
