Judging from official product descriptions, LG’s first roll-it-yourself keyboard guarantees more space and solidity. Similar products that have been previously released have failed to meet users’ requirements as a result of their rubbery consistency. LG managed to create a highly compact prototype using solid components.
As promised on previous occasions, LG is addressing the mobile market by launching its first Rolly keyboard. The model will be officially launched during the IFA tech exhibition which is due to take place next week in Berlin. The product will then be released on most markets from the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America. The price has not yet been revealed to us, but LG plans to offer more details as the launching date grows near.
LG’s new keyboard is meant to offer a solution to mobile users, who cannot type as fast using their regular touchscreen keyboards. The unique feature of the Rolly Keyboard is the fact that it can be folded in a slim, rectangular-shaped box that can be easily carried around in bags.
LG used polycarbonate and plastic for the production of its new accessory; thus, providing a good replacement for rubber keyboards. The prototype features two arms on the top side that may be used to connect the keyboard to smartphone, tablets or any other mobile devices.
Connection with other gadgets is possible through Bluetooth 3.0. LG’s keyboard guarantees a 3-month battery life using just a simple AAA cell. The pairing is automatically initiated as soon as the keyboard rolls out from the rod-shaped form in which it is stored.
LG does not plan to stop here; there will be many other mobile-related accessories, according to the company’s vice president Seo Young-jae. He further stated that LG managed to successfully accomplish their goal of creating a product that increases the value of LG smartphones and presents a unique design, at the same time. There will also be many new products in the Android Wearable division, the vice president has concluded.

Clever, but if I had to carry a tablet computer, I think I’d rather carry a small Linux notebook computer instead, with integrated keyboard and touch-pad cursor control or a small trackball on the side.
