Yes, that’s true – Logi’s Blocks bock iPads from breaking – the company previously known for making mice, which has recently gone through a rebranding from Logitech to just Logi (pronounced low-gee) is releasing its first product under the new name: the Logi iPads Blok.
Still, it will be a while until my Word will probably accommodate to the new name (stop underlining it! Please!), like it has done with the previous brand name, Logitech. But, the new iPad cases from the Swiss company looks stylish and bold. Just what they need for it to be a success. And that’s just in terms of looks.
When it comes to specs, you can’t really expect much from a protective case, can you? But, surprisingly, Logi has managed to make that interesting as well. Design-wise, they have gone basic, and, as user trob405 has pointed out on cnet.com, the new clothed iPad now looks strikingly close to a Microsoft Surface. Logi representatives have said that they wanted to keep the iPad, an iPad, and not make it into some abomination, like some other cases do.
The materials used for the Blok are a highly absorbent type of polymers – so you can fearlessly throw your iPad out the window when you lose get an email saying you’re fired, just don’t hit anyone in the head. No. We’re joking. You’d best not do that. But it will keep your iPad intact if you drop it onto concrete from about six feet, company officials say. Pretty impressive, huh?
Still, there are three types of Blok you can buy.
The first is the Protective Shell, which is just what it sounds like. It’s available for the iPad Air 2, as well as the iPad Mini. This is designed to preserve the device’s “integrity” – and it’s coming in at $39.99. Not that cheap, really.
The second is the Protective Case, which is exclusive to the Air 2, and it includes a stand which will allow you to hold it steadily tilted between 0 and 50 degrees. For this addition, you’ll have to pay $69.99. That’s a whole 30 dollars more for a stand and a case which is a bit bigger.
The third, more attractive version of the Blok is the Protective Keyboard Case. This includes – you guessed it – a keyboard. One of those fancy keyboards Logitech has been producing in the past. The keyboard is detachable from the case, and has a small row of special iOS keys which may come in handy. This one costs $129.99. A little bit pricey.
All these cases will be available beginning next month. So which one do you want?
