Technology is rapidly advancing especially in the automobile industry but if you want to see the future of F1, take a look at McLaren’s futuristic MP4-X concept car.
- MP4-X concept car was designed as a F1 racecar
- The car would use hybrid technology including solar power
- The driver could control the system with hand gestures.
John Allert, one of McLaren Technology Group’s representatives talked about the concept of the car. Being a racecar, it naturally has everything this type of car needs – speed and performance most importantly, combined with enclosed cockpits that should enhance its safety as well as hybrid technology.
Formula 1 is far from being just a sport. It is also a spectacle and the MP4-X concept car is indeed spectacular. Not only does it have a cutting-edge design but its creators also have in mind every high-tech solution there is, including the ones that are just hatching.
We mentioned that the car should have hybrid technology. To be more specific, this means that the vehicle is designed to use alternative power sources such as solar power or inductive coupling that should be found into the track. The car should also be more comfortable and driver-friendly as the seat will be able to change shape depending on the aerodynamic demands.
Similar to modern jets used in military, the driver will have a helmet which will allow him to have a 360-degree view of the surroundings. Besides, the car can communicate if it has a technical problem.
And now, to top it all off, the most futuristic idea of them all is monitoring the electrical signals of the driver’s brain in order to control the system of the car. If this doesn’t appeal to your tastes, you can always steer the car with hand gestures – no need for a steering wheel anymore.
The concept of MP4-X was, however, created simply as a concept, regardless of the financial investment needed to manufacture such a vehicle, or the technology that actually exists and can be used. The team behind is not planning to build the car, but simply dream about it.
All in all, McLaren’s MP4-X concept car was imagined as the ideal Formula 1 racecar, although I’m sure no one would object to drive such a car outside the track either. However, this won’t be happening anytime soon, but with technology’s rapid advancement, who knows?
