Tech analysts have recently been informed that Microsoft has agreed to join the fight against revenge porn by implementing a special website where victims can make complaints. The new measure is said to make the entire process a lot easier and faster, according to the official declaration of the spokespersons.
Microsoft has teamed up with many other companies in the tech field to put an end to the well-known revenge porn practices. This decision presupposes that all porn-related links will be deleted from the developer’s web browser Bing.
According to the official declaration that the company has made on their blog, it appears that victims can now make complaints and requests on a web page that has been purposefully created with this sole intent. This page has been created because Microsoft wants to facilitate people’s access to this new service and to shorten the process that would, otherwise, last much longer.
Spokespersons have further stated that the new page will be first introduced in the English language, whereas other languages will be gradually inserted in the months to come. Microsoft plans to expand this service on a global scale; therefore, the website will be available in as many international languages as possible.
Jacqueline Beauchere, Microsoft’s Chief of Online Safety explained the company’s decision to get involved in the fight against revenge porn by saying that sharing intimate images of another person could have very negative consequences. She has further stated that the decision was adopted after recent figures have shown that revenge porn has become all the more popular around the globe.
Recent studies have revealed that many families, relationships and careers have been destroyed as a result of these intimate pictures that were posted on the Internet. For this reason, Microsoft will immediately respond to all users’ requests and will remove links to porn sites.
While the deletion of links won’t completely eliminate the sexual images and videos from the Internet, it will most likely hinder all revenge porn practices, Microsoft has concluded.
There are many other tech companies that have become actively involved in the deletion of revenge porn content in the recent months. Google, Reddit and Twitter have been the first to adopt the new anti-revenge porn policies.
