We know that there are times when you hate your job. You want to go home, enjoy a free day and forget your problems. However, a lot of people seem to be satisfied with what they are doing. If you are young and you do not like your job, this could be a problem in the future. According to a study, people who have low job satisfaction put their health in danger.
- People who are not satisfied with their jobs have worse mental health than those who love what they are doing.
- Find the job you like and be happy or your mental help could be in danger.
Researchers discovered that happiness on the job has a great impact on mental health. They used data from other studies and followed people’s jobs from 25 until they were 39. There were some who were not satisfied with their job, while others were very happy with it. Of course, there were some people who changed over time. Some of them began to like what they were doing while others wanted to find another job.
They found that people with lower job satisfaction have worse mental health compared to those which are happy with their jobs. They had problems with depression, they slept less and they also had a higher risk for heart attacks. So if you are not satisfied with your job now, your health will be in danger in 10 years.
Doctors said that is very important to find a job you like. When you do not feel good about something, this will have effects on your life. Think of the times when you are upset because you had a fight with someone and it makes you feel bad. A similar thing happens when you are satisfied with your job, but it affects your health.
The main reason people have this health problem is because of the job insecurity. They do not know if they will have the same job in the next years or if their income will be enough to take care of their families. When you have kids, things change and there are more things you have to buy. When you have a job that you do not like and it does not give you the money you need, your mental health is in danger too.
