As of yesterday, Oculus Connect 2 is open for submissions and ready for developers to promote their own set of ideas. Just recently, Facebook acquired the virtual reality headset developer and is now starting the event, leaving registrations open.
The first Oculus event last year was unremorsefully focused on developers and the second edition will seemingly not be any different. Except one thing: potential speakers and participants know their controller options and have a notion of the device’s possibilities.
The Oculus Connect 2 event is set to gather 1,500 people, including developers, creators and engineers eager to work on the futuristic idea of virtual reality. It promises to set the wheels in motion and pave the way for what will potentially be the future of both gaming and interactive software.
Those who wish to attend are open to submit their registrations and, in August, they will receive confirmation if Oculus VR has accepted their confirmation or not. They are likely to pick and choose the most innovative, creative and, obviously, possible ideas that could become the next step to making virtual reality true.
According to their official blog, Oculus VR is looking for even more presenters this year and will be interested in submissions that could expand the device’s potential in three areas.
“VR Engineering” will be the first, where speakers are welcomed to show their presentation on how to develop, optimize and best create the virtual reality headset. It’s looking to expand from PC to all platforms and open up their gaming horizons.
Which is why “Game and App Design” is the second category open for their ideas. Developers will be providing new experiences and untapped potential of what gaming could be in the future, with fun and innovating concepts.
The third and last category, “Cinematic VR”, is also a well of possibilities. With technologies such as 3D taking over the movie industry and 4D making its way into viewing and experiencing certain action flick, Oculus Connect 2 will be taking it to the next level.
Submissions end on August 3rd, one minute before midnight, with the event taking place from September 23rd to the 25th.
It will not be part of science fiction anymore, but something hopefully to be found in our living rooms. No matter how silly it might seem to be waving around through our house, there is little else promising to live up to the experience.
