Capcom announced Street Fighter 5 for Playstation 4 and PC. According to the company, Playstation 4 will be only console that will get the game. Moreover, Capcom has indirectly denied launching the game for Xbox One.
Microsoft Xbox gaming executive Phil Spencer has responded to this announcement on Twitter, saying that Microsoft can’t come out on top in every business deal, and that he is more interested in the company’s own fighting game franchise “Killer Instinct,”
Explaining to a fan he added, “Business deals happen. We won’t do all of them. When we have a 1st party franchise in a genre I’d rather invest in ours.”
Spencer doesn’t seem too upset by Capcom’s announcement. According to him, company does make exclusive deals and will be making them in future. “Dead Rising 3” and “Rise of the Tomb Raider” are two such examples. He believes company’s own IP as of extreme importance.
In one of his other tweets, Mr Spencer has wrote, “We have surprises, announces and great games shipping in 2015, we’ll deliver on all three.”
Considering Capcom’s move as a part of competition, he wrote “I appreciate the competition, they do good work. I just focus on us and like you say, I think that makes us better.”
Street Fighter 5 was announced at Sony PlayStation Experience event in Las Vegas on December 6th. Players will be able to play multiplayer between PS4 and PC as well. The release date is not yet revealed.
