It is still not clear what exactly caused the Virgin Galactic crash in the Mojave Desert last month but a partial picture is emerging about what could have caused the chain of events which led to the breakup of the Spaceship two. The pilot who survived the fiery ordeal was actually thrown out of the spaceship still strapped to his seat as the plane broke midair.
The pilot who survived the crash told investigators that he had managed to unbuckle himself from his seat as he plunged towards the Earth. His parachute automatically deployed later.
The Space rocket had just broken the sound barrier and was more than 10 miles high when it was destroyed during the October 31 test flight.
Pilot Peter Siebold told investigators that he was unaware that his co-pilot had unlocked the spacecraft’s movable tail prematurely and it led to a chain of events which caused the spacecraft to disintegrate.
Siebold’s Copilot Michael Alsbury, was found dead in the wreckage still strapped in his seat.
