Thor’s Mjölnir Hammer is a concept originating from the Norse mythology and was used in Marvel Comics 2011 super production. According to the Norse mythology, the hammer has godlike properties and is even capable of leveling mountains. It can only be used by a God-chosen person, whose hand grip is recognized by the handle of the hammer.
This person is Thor, but movie fans thought they should have the ability to use the powerful hammer, too. Consequently, numerous engineers have worked to find the best method to replicate the special tool, but it was only engineer Allen Pan that actually managed to create a fully functional replica of Thor’s Mjölnir Hammer.
Judging from the explanation that the engineer has posted on his official YouTube channel, the hammer was designed to feature the same properties as the movie variant. Thus, the real-life replica cannot be lifted by other people except the engineer himself.
This is possible because the head of the hammer contains microwave oven transformer electromagnets that render it very hard to lift, especially when placed on metallic surfaces. As for the handle part, Pan incorporated sensors in the handle, so the hammer would recognize him. It goes without saying that the hammer is not functional when in the hands of a stranger.
These technological artifices have helped Pan create his own version of Thor’s hammer. Unlike other variants on the market, Pan’s version is the only one that can perform these magical tricks. There is, however, one thing the real-life hammer can’t do: it cannot take down mountains, although people, who have tested it, are pretty sure it can crush heads.
Pan took his new hammer for a stroll. He filmed people’s reactions as he asked them to lift Thor’s charmed hammer. Participants in the video were surprised to see they couldn’t actually lift the hammer from the ground, but they were still willing to put their strength to test.
