The possibilities in gaming are truly endless, and gamers will be able to ride a bear and soar like an eagle in WiLD, the upcoming game announced by Wild Sheep Studios.
- The game will be developed by Michel Ancel’s Wild Sheep Studios
- WiLD is an open-world survival game set 10,000 years ago, PS 4 exclusive
- Players will be placed in the role of a young shaman
- They will get to interact and work with eagles, rabbits, ravens, and divinities
During the Sony conference at Paris Games Week, game designer Michel Ancel presented the viewers with a solid sight of the upcoming game, WiLD. It will be the first for the newly established company.
Ancel is better known for his work on Rayman and Beyond Good & Evil, having helped in the development of numerous games while employed at Ubisoft. However, the French game designer has decided to take a bit of a step back, and instead head in a new direction on his own. At least, that seems to be the case partly.
He created his own indie studio, Wild Sheep. According to Ancel, he is now “working half and half”, with his attention split down the middle between Ubisoft and his own company. This has triggered worries among most fans of his creations, who have been hoping his involvement will be felt in Beyond Good & Evil 2. However, reportedly, there is nothing to worry about.
Even Ubisoft teased that the game designer is working on an “extremely ambitious title”. As seen at the Paris Games Week, it appears that WiLD might just be it. Featuring promising and exciting gameplay, it appears that the game will aim to display the true extent of nature’s beauty. Not to mention that players will get a bear as their mount.
WiLD is set 10,000 years ago, with focus centered on a shaman who is trying to find the extent of his/her abilities while venturing throughout the world. The purpose is not only to survive alongside nature, but to progress along with it. According to official statements, players will “experience the primal beauty and harsh destructiveness of the natural world”.
In the short demo displayed at the conference, WiLD proved itself to be a rather interesting open-world game. Gamers will become one with nature, taking control of several animals, protecting and experiencing the landscape from threats. The bond formed between the shaman and nature means to explore and underline the simpler essence of a something thought to be lost.
Aside from riding a bear throughout the forests, players will be able to soar through the eyes of an eagle, hop like a rabbit, or perform group charges with a flock of ravens. This has been just a taste of the gameplay. However, many more experiences are likely to be included when the PlayStation 4 exclusive will launch.
