Apple Electric Car Rumors Surface

June 5, 2015 By Jenna Lewis Leave a Comment

Apple Electric Car Rumors SurfaceApple Inc. can be called many things from many different points of views – the model corporation, producer of overpriced junk, illuminati cover-up and a list of silly things longer than its revenue sheet. Fact is, the late Steve Jobs’ company is going out of its way to become a technology giant in every aspect.
Smartphone and notebook domination may ensure that the company gets record breaking fiscal quarters in revenue, but Apple might think this is not enough to keep them on the floating line. The company’s recent actions prove that it wishes to expand into as many mainstream technological domains as possible – especially in the lately prospering gadget market.

But in truth, the company may be aiming even higher than that, right into the heart of that El Dorado of the automobile industry – the electric car.

Reports have surfaced in February about the fact that the Silicon Valley giant is working on an electric vehicle model, with production stated to begin around 2020. Apple has neither confirmed nor declined the rumors since, and speculation has been running rampant.

And for a good cause: there are more than a few voices that hope that involvement from the technological behemoth will sprout the kind of revolution in the auto industry which the mobile phones one got with the apparition of the smartphone.

It would also be a well-timed move: there are but two serious potential competitors for Apple on this market, General Motors and Tesla. And both are somewhat held to a standstill at the moment due to the issue of battery life – which is not satisfactory yet; and until those futuristic vast networks of recharging points are completed, this is the main focal point on which the electric vehicle battle will be held.

However, both of them would have a head start over Apple – as they both have electric models which will reportedly be able to go over 200 miles without recharging and also have an accessible price tag. That probably explains the close production target – such daring projects would normally take about a decade to go into production phase (barring of course the case in which Apple engineers are already working on this since 2010).
