The Discovery of Terra’s Sibling near Alpha Centauri

Alpha Centauri star

Astronomers wish to take a closer look to planets nearby Alpha Centauri to find Terra’s sibling.

A new research called Project Blue is meant to spy on Alpha Centauri to catch the image of Earth-like planets which could be found there. This project was announced today, having as a primary purpose a closer analysis of the planets which resemble Earth.  Also, scientists want to launch a telescope into the orbit of our planet by 2019 to find out more about life. Alpha Centauri has two stars which are associated with Proxima Centauri, the three of them being the closest ones situated outside the solar system.

  • Astronomers need the help of a telescope to take a closer look to Alpha Centauri.
  • They have assumed an Earth-like planet is out there.

Due to the closeness of these stars, a very inexpensive telescope could help our astronomers analyze them directly. Jon Morse, who is the CEO of the BoldlyGo Institute and also one of the leaders of this study, argued that our community of astronomers is keen on having the chance to explore those stars which could probably light some exoplanets in Alpha Centauri. It would be incredible if our telescopes and technology would be able to directly photograph the stars and maybe the planets that surround them.

Is there a possibility that those stars are warming and lighting Terra’s sibling? Do you believe there is another planet possible to host life outside our solar system? Let’s see what scientists have to say about this. Morse declared to Space.com that space agencies need to send astronauts out there for any measurement which is required.

What is more, astronomers want to be able to directly capture planets situated around the closest stars. All experts have ground reasons to believe that there exist planets which may share the same features as Earth.

During its mission in 1990, NASA’S Voyager spaceship had captured some spectacular images prone to show how Earth was perceived from afar. Morse asserted that they have identified through a telescope a planet which looks just like Earth. This planet is around Alpha Centauri.

Together with BoldlyGo Institute goes a new organization funded in New York which started Project Blue, called Mission Centaur. This nonprofit organization has as a sole goal to search for exoplanets. Other two groups have joined these teams, namely the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence Institute (SETI) and the University of Massachusetts Lowell.

Are you confident that these great teams will benefit from the necessary technology able to help them discover Terra’s sibling?
