Tesla battery seems to be the new controversial breakthrough in technology, defined as a device that charges using electricity generated from solar panels. It has the capacity of providing electrical power even when the sun sets.
Batteries able to store renewable energy for longer at low cost are the definition of energy revolution, bringing beneficial effects to the environment in general and poor communities deprived from common supplies in particular. With the help of such inventions, people can store and supply electricity for more than 5 hours given the example of a common household.
Opinions vary but perspectives are promising when it comes to the future common use of the Tesla battery. Chief Elon Musk declared his socially responsible intentions when imagining such a product. Remote areas like Africa can benefit from cheaper energy that lasts for longer.
Voices in the press argue that a $3000 price is a pretty expensive way of storing two dollars’ worth of electricity. To deliver socially responsible benefits, Tesla representatives must work hard in lowering the sale price for their product.
Press also shouts with declarations from T. Boone Pickens, who said Tesla batteries are much too expensive for his financial potency. However, he has faith in Musk’s ingenious release but suggests that he must think of a way to sell the batteries for cheaper.
However, the cost of battery storage has lowered seriously and specialists say that by 2020 an average family could own their Tesla battery. Until that happens, Tesla continues to gain popularity among business leaders, with major US organizations such as Amazon already using the batteries.
In spite of all reactions, comments and tribulations in the press and among business leaders, Tesla investors are very confident about the opportunities for venturing into the home and business battery market. Tesla’s share price performance has climbed at a rapid rate, from $230 to $240 in less than a month.
Given the facts and the common premises to develop a steady business plan, it appears that the Tesla guys are in need to raise new money for steady investments.
There’s a little contradiction scratching on the surface of perspectives and uses when it comes to the Tesla battery. Pickens said it right about the price of this new invention. The base Tesla Model S 70D is sold for $75.000, an enormous cost for an average consumer. The Tesla Model 3, however, will be launched as a cheaper alternative, for $35.000 in price but we’ll have to wait until 2017.
Yes, the great advantage of this startup lays in using natural resources to give back electrical power and yes, the most unfortunate and poor of us could benefit from that, but business is business and innovation is still sold for giant amounts of money. So even if Tesla CEO tries to stick to the social side of his project, the main objective doesn’t translate in helping poor Africans with cheap electricity but in generating profit from an idea that makes the future sound optimistic.
