The auto maker has kept its promise and a new electrical charger has been introduced to the public on early Friday morning. Unfortunately, the video showcasing the weird mechanical devices did not produce the desired outcome. On the contrary, Tesla’s snake-like charging robot has creeped the Internet out.
Tesla has long announced that they will be making a charger that will make electrical cars much more popular. Their most recent video hints that developers are working diligently to make their new project come true, but fans and customers are not really convinced that the new device is worth the money.
The video shows a Tesla car near a snake-like robot, which is motionless in the beginning. When engineers start it, the robotic arm slowly bends itself and begins charging the vehicle, making flashes to let car drivers know that it is functional.
As innovative as the new project may seem, people who have seen the video could not help but wonder what exactly the snake-like robot does. I mean, it is clear that the robot charges the vehicle, but nobody understands why Tesla would spend so many resources on a product that offers no actual benefit at all.
Tech analysts have mocked the new invention saying that it was probably conceived for people that are too busy to plug their own cars. Or for those, who are too forgetful to remember that their cars have run out of battery.
Elon Musk, the founder of the American company, has been surprised by the new invention. He took to his Twitter account to say that the new charger seems ‘kinda wrong’. His message was followed by many other fans stating pretty much the same thing, that the robot looks too weird to be commercialized.
Although the company did not provide us with additional explanations, there may be other uses of the strange snake-like robot, as well. The final prototype could feature other options, but Tesla is obviously keeping them secret to surprise customers once the robot will be officially launched.
