A recent scientific experiment helps shed light on the influence of Bronze Age DNA on Asian and European Cultures. According to the findings of the said study, the European population has suffered various DNA modifications during the Bronze Age period, which have, later on, led to their present physical traits.
Recent studies point to the fact that Europeans and Asians may not have always had the physical traits and characteristics they do today. It appears that these populations were initially dark-skinned and originated from a region set on the African territory.
During the Bronze Age period various tribes from the aforementioned regions set off to conquer other areas. Thus, the people belonging to the Yamnaya tribe started their journey and headed towards the northern regions where many of the European countries lie today.
DNA samples withdrawn from Bronze Age fossils prove that Yamnaya inhabitants already started to develop white traits at the time of the Bronze Age. The DNA structures show that some individuals developed blue eyes characteristics for the first time in this historical period.
Scientists have, therefore, inferred that the Yamnaya people had dark skins and blue eyes. However, these Caucasian characteristics had not been found in previous studies of older fossils. The DNA structure is very likely to have modified precisely during the Bronze Age.
There are other DNA sequence alterations that have been traced to this historical period, as well. Researchers think the first instances of milk intolerance most likely occurred at the same time with the said physical changes.
While biology experts have to gather additional data to explain why these populations did not tolerate dairy products, they have, nonetheless, managed to make several assumptions on the matter. In their opinion, milk intolerance was mainly caused by the aliments that individuals consumed in the Bronze Age.
Cattles were raised in a specific northern region, so the food that was fed to these animals most likely plays a significant role in the development of this DNA modification. It might be that Bronze Age populations from Europe and Asia had allergic reactions to certain ingredients in dairy products, hence their stomach affections.
The group of researchers from the Harvard Medical School has concluded that the study of past behaviors can shed light on nowadays problems. They think that identifying the DNA alterations and the factors that have led to their appearance might solve many of the problems that European and Asian populations have nowadays.
