Scientists found that the number of centenarians is at an all-time high, so they decided to take a closer look at the age limit humankind can reach. The newly published study found that the limit of human aging is reached at 115 years. According to the scientists, the absolute maximum age of a human being is 125.
- The maximum level of human aging is 115, after that, it seems that the aging processes come to a halt.
- The researchers analyzed longevity recorders from every corner of the Earth.
- There is a possibility of increasing the human aging limit via technological means.
For decades now, the human aging limit has been pushed, more and more people reaching the 100 milestone. This increase in longevity is mostly due to the technological and health advancements that have cured many, and made life easier for everybody.
Jan Vijg, a molecular genetics researcher at New York’s Albert Einstein Medicine College, declared that the number of centenarians currently living on the planet exceeds any number ever registered.
However, according to the study that was published in the online version of Nature magazine, people cannot just break age barrier after age barrier. The limit is 115, some very lucky few even reaching 125.
The claims of Vijg and his team are based on an analysis of decades’ worth of longevity records collected from all over the world. The researchers even tapped in the supply of the International Database on Longevity and the Human Mortality Database.
The researchers found that in the thirty years between 1960 and 19990, the age of the oldest person who died every year increased at a steady rate.
It may be possible for people to exceed the current age limit through technological advancements, but the doctors are finding it hard to treat all of the deadly diseases that endanger the human lifespan when more are taking their place.
The “game changer” in this situation would be the discovery of the underlying cause of aging. When researchers find the exact thing that’s causing people to age, they will be able to come up with a solution that will either slow the process or stop it altogether.
