The Google giant has recently announced they will allow tweets to appear in the search results. Starting today, we can search for tweets or find tweets that can reveal yet undisclosed information, due to the recent partnership signed by Google with social media giant, Twitter.
With a simple search on Google app or any other browser on a cell phone or on a tablet, real-time content from Twitter will be displayed as well.
Twitter is information made easy. With compact phrases, substantial pieces of news is unveiled. The new deal that allows Google algorithms to select and display relevant Twitter content will ease some search efforts for some of us and will leverage the popularity of Twitter on a very large scale.
Twitter is very well known for its highly opinionated pieces of content and it will be interesting and insightful to have them at an arm’s length, with through a simple Google search.
Also, representatives from Twitter declared that the partnership with Google doesn’t imply monetization. Instead, Twitter is most probably looking for traffic.
There is controversial matter anyhow and it is linked to the selection algorithms Google uses to reveal what considers to be a relevant result. We still don’t know how Google selects information from Twitter, why sometimes tweets don’t appear at all, what controls where they show, what block filters do they use and other key-questions that would provide a better understanding about the way it will all work from now on.
Overall, the new partnership represents quite a great way to feed yourself to some real-time info when things happen worldwide. It is also a great PR tool both for people and organizations, offering them the chance to appear as highlighted and reach a global audience at their most relevant moments.
The service is presently available on Google.com in English and through the Google app, both on Android and iOS. It will soon be available on mobile browsers as well, developing gradually. Google is now working on bringing it to more languages and desktop, as they recently declared in a blogpost.
Of course this is a big business boost for Twitter that will benefit from all the popularity one only dreams of. On the other hand, there’s a great chance for us to keep up to date with all the gossiping in celebrity land, all the critics in internet land and all the novelties in consumerism land. Information will be available one tweet away, directly from our Google browsers and research will probably turn to be as juicy as it sounds, starting from now.
