With the occasion of the holidays, Verizon lets their FiOS customers enjoy DVR streaming from anywhere as long as they have an internet connection.
- The upgrade arrived for FiOS Internet and FiOS Quantum TV
- Customers will be able to stream their DVR recordings from anywhere
- They will also be able to live stream TV channels within their home
The company announced a new upgrade to their mobile app that is set to make some of their clients happy. This way, you will essentially have your TV with you anywhere.
According to Susan Retta, who is the Verizon VP of consumer marketing, they are updating their mobile app to better cater to their costumers’ needs. It will allow them to take their home experience along whenever and wherever. It would also be a way for the company to maximize their traffic during such a busy time of the year. And, possibly, overtake their competition.
Customers with FiOS Internet and FiOS Quantum TV will be able to indulge in the new feature. They could stream their beloved DVR-recorded series from anywhere and watch them if they want. However, there is a limit that the company did not discuss. Verizon stated that “nearly all DVR content” will be available. That leaves a bit of space on what restrictions they will be placing on their service.
The updated app is now available on the Google Store for Android devices, and the App Store for those running iOS. It also supports TV live streaming. This means that customers could browse through their favorite channels while they’re in their homes, and watch content on their smartphone. It could be more useful than fighting over the remote.
And, speaking of which, the app will also turn your smartphone into a TV remote control. They will be able to pause, play, and rewind their favorite show whether they are watching it on the big screen or their mobile device. It all depends on preference, but Verizon is making their services available.
Another use for the upgraded FiOS app is also hidden in the parental control features. Parents will be able to use the service to approve what sort of shows their children watch, and adjust accordingly. Essentially, the app will offer more control and more options.
Along with that, Verizon raised the stakes a bit. Along the DVR streaming, users of FiOS Quantum TV will be able to benefit from the DVR system. It can record 12 shows at the same time, as Verizon offers a total capacity of 200 hours of high-definition videos.
