Wal-Mart Stores Inc. announced new changes to its return policy just in time for the winter holidays. The constant system overhauls emphasize the company’s struggle to make ends meet in an extremely competitive environment. Walmart is in direct rivalry with online retail giant Amazon.com.
The Revamped Return Policy Will Be Available as Early November
On Monday, Walmart announced clients of a new benefit they will have for shopping online. So far, the company proved capable of blending the service of its 4,700 stores with its digital platform beautifully. Customers are able to access a streamlined shopping experience by ordering online and picking up their products in stores.
While Amazon continues to stifle Walmart’s influence with its own brick-and-mortar stores, the chain of supermarkets improves customer care services. The new tweaks help customers save time when they decide to return items that were bought online.
The upcoming return policy is going to allow clients to start a returning protocol right from retailer’s application. The change will be available in early November. By activating the upcoming app function, Walmart will generate a QR code.
All customers need to do from this point on is to take their unwanted products to the nearest Walmart store. Once at the location, they can scan the code at specific ‘express’ lanes. The staff members will take back the goods.
Walmart Customers Will Need Only 30 Seconds to Return a Product
The head of Walmart’s services and digital acceleration business in the U.S., Daniel Eckert, claimed that the new app function is quite innovative. Before this change, consumers needed 5 minutes to return a product. However, the new system will take only 30 seconds off their time.
Moreover, the upcoming change will also allow Walmart customers to request a return as soon as the next day. On top of that, the company will endorse immediate returns of certain products such as shampoo. Clients will receive their money back yet they won’t have to take back such items to the store.
