Gynecologists warn women about the advice of Gwyneth Paltrow to use jade eggs for their vaginas. Apparently, the actress has posted on her website Goop about the benefits of putting jade eggs in the vagina during sleep or even for a whole day. On her website, she argues that these golf-sized jade stones represent a secret of Chinese concubines and queens used to please emperors.
- Gwyneth Paltrow has been promoting vaginal jade eggs on her website Goop.
- Apparently, this unusual practice has as benefits the boost of feminine energy and improving vaginal muscle tone.
- However, gynecologists raise awareness among women claiming that this is an unhealthy practice.
One such egg costs $66, and it is claimed to boost orgasm while also improving vaginal muscle tone, feminine energy, and hormonal balance. Nevertheless, gynecologists want to warn all women about the dangers of using jade eggs. Leena Nathan, a scientist at UCLA Health, claimed that using jade eggs does not have the effects described by Gwyneth Paltrow like hormonal changes. She also noted that there exists no evidence which supports the claim that jade eggs can improve vaginal muscle tone or orgasm.
Another specialist has also debunked Paltrow’s statements. Jen Gunter, from Kaiser Permanente in San Francisco, has stated that this idea of using vagina jade stones is garbage. This claim is even worse than saying that wearing bras can cause cancer. The specialist argued that it is not ok for women to walk around having a jade egg. The floor muscles of the pelvic area were not designed to contract permanently.
She points out that is difficult for a woman to control her pelvic floor muscles while walking. This unusual practice may actually cause other muscles to clench while trying to keep the egg inside the vagina. Researchers argue that this new and strange method will not boost your feminine energy, but on the contrary, it will make everyone staring at your pained expression.
Gunter also stated that jade stones are porous, meaning that if such an egg is placed inside and left there during sleep, it may allow bacteria to get there. Thus, bacterial vaginosis and probably the fatal Toxic Shock Syndrome may occur. That egg represents a foreign body, and every scientist would say that it is not healthy to keep inside your body any object.
This jade stone may alter the pH and bacteria in the vagina, leading to severe infections. Jen Gunter also underlined that it is dangerous to try these non-therapies. The vaginal jade eggs promoted by Goop only represent another sort of product claimed to improve women’s reproductive health which was not approved by doctors.
