Weather can play spoilsport for this year’s festive season. Lashing rains, high winds and thunderstorms could play villain and douse cold water on the enthusiasm and holiday plans of millions of Americans. The Gulf Coast is going to receive rains and gusty wind due to a large developing north-south cold front. The Upper Midwest can expect some snow on Tuesday. The storm is expected to move North-Eastward causing rains and windy weather along the East Coast.
Roy Lucksinger, lead meteorologist at the Weather Channel said, “It’s going to be a rainmaker, for sure. There’s the threat of locally heavy rain and this system could be windy enough to disrupt travel at airports in the east.”
The storm has already caused disruption in Southern California with raging winds bringing down trees and power lines. A high wind warning is already up through Monday morning with gusts of up to 75 mph. The Gulf States will face the brunt of severe weather on Tuesday.
It will be very disappointing for the kids who will be seeing mostly heavy rain and gusty wind instead of snow in the Midwest lakes, central Mississippi Valley and the mountainous areas of the Northwest during the Christmas Eve day and later, on Christmas. Another developing system is expected to bring rain to the Northwest on Christmas Day.
The forecast for Christmas Eve and Christmas is not very assuring. Snow is extremely unlikely with the weather more likely to be wet and windy. Meteorologist predict that Last-minute shoppers and festive day travelers won’t get a break from the weather in the days leading up to Christmas
