Watch out, Cape Cod! There are white sharks nearby!
According to the latest news, three Truro beaches were closed after six great white sharks were seen too close to the shore. Even though they were feeding on a dead whale, swimmers were ordered out of the water as quick as possible.
- Three Truro beaches were closed after six white sharks were seen too close to the shore.
- Humans fear sharks even though there were only seven attacks in the past 300 years.
- The beaches have been opened for the tourists today.
The Truro Police recommended that patrons of bay side beach to be particularly vigilant and report any sightings. Moreover, policemen advise all the people to pay attention to the water because there is no guarantee that the white sharks will not come back. The three beaches that were closed on Friday were Noons Landing, Beach Point, and Cold Storage.
Luckily, no human was hurt by the white sharks. But this is not the first time the dangerous animals were seen in Truro. The city is the site of the last great white attack on a human in Cape Cod. Four years ago a great white shark bit a man on the leg. He survived, but the danger of sharks is still out there.
The authorities spotted a dead whale on Wednesday after two sharks were captured on video while they will trying to it. In the next few days, there were six of them and that was the moment when the authorities decided not to allow swimming anymore in the area. The closure ended today and now tourists can go back to the beaches and enjoy water as long as they want.
The fear humans have for sharks is well-known even if only seven attacks had been reported in Massachusetts for more than 300 years. Moreover, white sharks are one of the species that could disappear in the future as a major decline in its population has been observed since 1980. The researchers said that they are trying to save them and an increase of reproduction was seen in this particular species.
You should not feel surprised if more sharks are going to be in the Cape Cod area, as they are gathering there and then leave to Florida for winter. However, sharks had not been seen around the Atlantic coast for some time. A number of dead whales seem to be very attractive to white sharks as they are coming closer to the shore.
