It was revealed by YotaPhone that their flagship product, the YotaPhone 2 will be launched in the United States in April and it will be available via Indiegogo. The dual-screen smartphone is already available in the United Kingdom and some parts of Europe.
While there was no word on the price of the YotaPhone 2 in the United States, so rumors are saying that the device will be sold for $600 via a campaign on Indiegogo.
Rumors are also saying that the YotaPhone 2 will be available only in black at first and that YotaPhone is planning to release the white model later on.
The demand for the YotaPhone in the US has been big, but the company still needs the security that an Indiegogo campaign offers. If and when the YotaPhone 2 is a success, only then will the Russian company will officially come to the US.
What sets the YotaPhone apart from all the rest of world’s smartphones is the dual screen. The YotaPhone has two 5-inch displays: one full HD 1920 x 1080 display on the front of the device and one electronic touchscreen ink display on its back. The purpose of the second e-ink display is to offer basic information, such as email access, internet surfing and reading, without taking up too much battery juice.
YotaPhone argues that so many of the day-to-day tasks that users perform on their phones do not require a full HD display and could very well be performed on lesser quality displays.
The technical specifications of the YotaPhone 2 are quite similar to any flagship’s tech specs: the YotaPhone 2 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with a quad-core 2.3 GHz Krait 400 CPU and an Adreno 330 GPU. It comes with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
It has an 8 MP back camera with 3264 x 2448 pixels, LED flash, autofocus and check quality and shoots 1080p video at 30 frames per second. The secondary 2.1 MP camera is placed in the front of the phone.
The YotaPhone 2 also has wireless charging capabilities, which makes it a hit with users.
YotaPhone released a statement at the time of the launch of the YotaPhone 2:
With two full-touch displays, the next generation YotaPhone is twice as smart, twice as useful and twice as beautiful.
