A new era is perhaps approaching, and YouTube will unveil more about their paid subscriptions soon that might make some viewers a bit anxious.
- The YouTube subscription will cost $10 per month
- It will imply ad-free videos, and now exclusive content from several creators
- YouTube has signed up Fox Sports, A+E Networks and NBCUniversal for exclusive content, with Disney pending
- More will be revealed about the exclusive programming on October 21st in L.A.
Perhaps it’s understandable, or perhaps it’s not, but the Google-owned service is now getting ready to add massive amounts of new content that will be exclusive to paid subscribers. Considering YouTube is the biggest and most popular video-sharing platform out there, the choice is not unreasonable.
Their incredible success has been met with entirely free services, thus far. Now, they have made the decision to offer the option of users to pay a monthly fee of $10 for certain benefits. Up until now, it was only known that the ‘premium’ version of YouTube implied ad-free videos. Now, it seems that the company is moving in on exclusive content as well.
While that might seem like something natural, it does come in the wake of many vague statements that have assured that it will not be the case. Both free users and paying subscribers will be getting the same content, except that those willing to give money will have a few benefits. We’re now learning that those benefits will stretch out to different content.
Of course, the video-sharing company remains firm on the fact that the paid subscription will be just an option. It will not be required, and those choosing to remain on free services will feel virtually no difference. However, it appears that YouTube is expanding on the perks of paying them $10 per month.
The Google-owned service has reportedly signed up several partners to create exclusive content for their paid subscription. They include 21st Century Fox’s Fox Sports, A+E Networks, and Comcast’s NBCUniversal. It’s been said that YouTube is in talks with Disney for adding similar content to their exclusive programming.
The company will reveal more details about their upcoming content for paying subscribers on October 21st at their event studio in Los Angeles. It’s expected that they will reveal more about the tremendous amount of content they will be offering for the paid version of the service. In a way, it’s good news.
This means that YouTube will be getting some exciting new shows and upgraded content. However, it still remains to be seen if they will be worth the $10 monthly subscription.
YouTube will be keeping its free and ad-riddled services, and will be offering the paid subscription as an alternative. The subscribers will certain have access to all the videos seen by free users, though the same could not be said vice versa.
This will affect all content creators who make money from YouTube ads, who will also need to participate in the subscriber service. At the end of the day, perhaps it sounds fair enough.
