Africa is not able to develop due to gender inequality

Gender inequality has always been a huge issue in Africa. According to a new report, social discrimination against women costs more than 100 billion a year. This should not come as a surprise. Think of all those women who do not have the opportunity to study and work. They earn less money than men  and their health is a danger because they are paid for harmful traditional work.

  • Africa is not able to develop because they have gender inequality.
  • Most women don’t go to school . Moreover, most of them are not healthy because they work too hard and do not have money for treatments.

The report discovered many things that might be strange for American or European women. In Africa, there are so many women who die while they are pregnant or after they give birth. This happens due to physical violence, hard work during the pregnancy and poor health education. It seems that countries who invest on gender equality have a better economic development.

In countries where men and women are equal, there are more people who go to school, have jobs and this helps the economy. There are also less sick people because they know how to treat diseases and they have the money for treatments.

Africa pays a lot for keeping gender inequality. However, there are a few countries , such as Rwanda, who increased the level of human development and they managed to reduce the differences between genders. There are changes that could happen because some countries already banned early child marriage and they start talking more about what rights a woman has.

Moreover, the report comes with some strategies  to help African woman. The African countries should let women have a greater voice is decision-making. They should also let them go to school, learn more about how to protect their health  and allow them to own things.

There are so many differences between America and Africa. Some people can’t even imagine that, at this moment, there are people who don’t have what to eat. There are women who try to survive in countries where gender inequality is a law. The authorities should start to send people in Africa to teach them why it is so important for men and women to be equal. Africa will not be able to develop if its people will not be educated and go to work.
