Halloween is just around the corner with beautiful traditions and thrilling events. However, the holiday may live up to its scary name for some kids. While most of them dream about going trick-or-treat for tons of candies, others may have to skip this once a year night for health concerns. That’s because they live with allergies and need to be careful. However, the teal pumpkin project in New Jersey intends to include all children in celebrating this Halloween.

The Teal Pumpkin Marks a Home that Offers This Halloween Allergy-Friendly Treats

The United States is home to yet another beautiful initiative. While citizens are starting decorating their homes, gardens, and offices with traditional Halloween decorations with the flagship emptied pumpkin head with a terrifying face carved on it, New Jersey added a modern touch to it. A few homes are now displaying teal colored pumpkins. The aesthetic result is mesmerizing, but the message it sends is more appealing.

These odd decorations are used to mark only those households that decided to celebrate Halloween in a mindful way. All homes with a teal pumpkin will greet costumed kids with safe alternatives to candies. These can be toys or other edible products and home-cooked treats that don’t cause allergies.

The project has already grown into an international community. Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, France, Spain, Portugal, Germany, and several other countries have already adopted such a new practice.

This Year, All Kids Can Celebrate Halloween

To join this movement, people can sign up with the Food Allergy official website. Their homes will appear on a live map of the world with author’s details on what kind of treats kids can find by knocking at their door. These can toy-only bags, dairy free products, coloring materials, and other fun yet allergy aware items.

On top of that, those who enlisted for this campaign can mark their participation in the real world by coloring a pumpkin in a dark greenish-blue hue. This way, it will be easier for the enthusiast kids to choose only what’s best for them.
