A Tesla car owner from Saint-Gilles, Brussels claims that the Autopilot feature of his Model S started itself and rammed the vehicle into five cars parked nearby. The man claims that the car did that all by itself without any input from the driver.
French media dubbed Tuesday’s incident “incroyable” which means “incredible” in the French language. According to the media, the Model S’ owner told the local police more about the incredible incident. The last car his Model S managed to wreck was a Dacia Logan.
On Tuesday, another Tesla car on Autopilot crashed into a police patrol car in Laguna Beach, CA. The police said that no officer was in the parked car at the moment of the crash. Yet, “the police car is totaled,” according to Laguna Police Sgt. Jim Cota.
Sgt. Cota added that the driver had minor injuries. Everyone kept wondering why Tesla cars keep crashing like that. Last year, a Tesla car crashed into a truck in the area. Fortunately, no one was injured back then.
Autopilot Involved in other Crashes
Tesla’s Autopilot is a controversial feature as it has been involved in dozens of crashes. Tesla insists that the accidents happened because some drivers confuse the Autopilot with a fully autonomous mode when it is not the case.

This month, a Tesla car on Autopilot failed to identify a parked fire truck in Utah. The Tesla owner told police that she was checking her phone when her car rammed into the black vehicle.
In March, a Tesla Model X on Autopilot mode was involved in a fatal crash in California where the driver died. Computer logs showed that the driver took both his hands off the wheel six seconds before the vehicle crashed into a highway barricade.
