Known as the creator of today’s most high performing recording devices, GoPro launches a cheaper option for their action camera that will be easier on your wallet with the same capabilities as the more expensive counterparts. It seems GoPro is keen on keeping themselves tied to both professional and amateur video makers.
- GoPro currently have 6 models of cameras
- HERO+ will cost $200
- It will record full-HD, HD, take 8 Mp Stills, and will be waterproof
- GoPro also lowered the price for HERO 4 Session to $300
The company has recently announced that they will be launching their GoPro HERO+ camera that will essentially have the same abilities as the GoPro HERO+LCD. If simple math is taken into consideration, the name is self-explanatory, as the newer model will features absolutely everything except the LCD display.
GoPro’s HERO family will soon increase to six members. They have three ‘high-end’ end cameras in HERO 4 Black, HERO 4 Silver, and this year’s HERO 4 Session, and three other ‘low-end’ cameras that are actually quite exceptional themselves, the HERO, HERO+LCD, and soon enough, HERO+.
This high-tech cameras have recently been featured in numerous professional projects, ranging from the recent spectacular footage of the Earth captured by a team of students, to even in the making of upcoming high-budget space flick ‘The Martian’. However, the company is not forgetting the little guy, the amateur video makers who wish to record their adventures.
In October, GoPro will launch their HERO+ for $199.99, which will slide right between the other ‘low-end’ members, as HERO costs $129.099 and HERO+LCD has a price tag of $299.99. It’s quite appropriate, and possibly a bargain if taken into consideration what capabilities it boasts.
In fact, the only difference between HERO+ and HERO+LCD is the touch screen display, as it will have the ability to take 8 megapixels stills, Time Lapse and the 5 pictures-per-second Burst Mode, along with the high-end traits like Superview, HiLight Tag, Auto Low-Light, and fully enabled for both WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity.
The upcoming HERO+ will also be just as waterproof as its more expensive counterpart, able to resist to depths above 130 feet. Its most important aspect, video recording, will also feature resolutions of 1080p at 60 frames per second, meaning full-HD, or 720p at 60 frames per second (HD). It will, however, not have a 4K support.
In essence, the lack of an LCD display is the only difference, which is not that crucial of an absence considering the GoPro app on your smartphone can do more than fine in filling in the gap.
The company has also lowered their price of their latest product, trimming down on the price of the tiny cube-shaped HERO 4 Session from $399.99 to $299.99, to make it much easier for adrenaline junkies to find a high resolution, high performing and stunning ways to record their excursions.
