No one could ever say that fashion isn’t adapting itself to advancing technologies, and each of Adidas’ Futurecraft 3D will be unique and comfortable as it will be a perfect fit for every foot.
- Futurecraft 3D will be individualized to each customer’s footprint
- It will present itself with a 3D-printed midsole, that will essentially represent anyone’s unique pattern
- This is just the first from the Futurecraft series, more of which will be announced in the upcoming 6 months
- No launch date or price has been confirmed by Adidas
Nike has been making news when they announced that they are looking into 3D techniques to continue their design and production. In fact, they have stated that, at some point in the future, customers will be able to print out certain designs at home. All they would need will be a 3D printer and the materials. The size and shape will be entirely customizable.
It sounds like something yanked out of science fiction. However, Adidas has stepped in to explain, and actually put it into practice.
The sports shoemaker released a new set of photos, comments and a video that introduces their innovative use of modern technology. Futurecraft 3D is not entirely printed, but the midsole will be, and the company promises to be the exact copy of any customer’s foot.
No more discomfort or blisters. Adidas is seeking to provide the best shoe, which will allow athletes to achieve their best performances and inspire them to greatness.
As the first of the ‘Futurecraft series’, the 3D-printed midsole will be “tailored to the cushioning needs of an individual’s foot”. It will only require the customer or athlete to walk into the store, run on a treadmill for a few minutes, and then instantly get their tailor-made Adidas shoe. This is the company’s ambition for the future, to provide quick and incredible service for each of us in part.
The design presents with a fully breathable, carbon copy of the customer’s footprint, matching every line and pressure point. Through footscan technologies, 3D-printing, and high-end materials, this will provide everyone with the perfect running shoe. It will bring comfort to where comfort is most needed.
According to Eric Liedtke, executive member of the board for Adidas, their innovative technologies and efficient materials “not only allows [them] to make a great running shoe”, but use all their data to meet the needs of any athlete. It will no longer be necessary to fit into the standard, but a genuine copy of your own footprint that will cradle and support your feet into their own patterns.
As stated by the manufacturer’s creative director, Paul Gaudio, their upcoming product is “fast, raw and real”. Each of Adidas’ Futurecraft 3D will be unique and comfortable. It’s their step into the future, and apparently a very comfy one at that. They aim for performance, comfort, and to carve themselves in stone as the best sports brand in the world.
The Futurecraft initiative will reportedly have more news to release within the upcoming months, adding futuristic technique to an old craft.
