If you’ve ever wished you could become a cyborg, then you might be into the new tattoo Chaotic Moon is willing to ink on your skin. The high-tech tattoo is one of the more futuristic wearables and it can collect biometric and health data from your body.
- Chaotic Moon is working on a high-tech tattoo launching in the field of biowearables
- The development software design uses components and conductive paint to create a circuit
- Applications: military, tracking, health data collection
Chaotic Moon is a software design and development company located in Austin, Texas, and its tattoo kit made of conductive paint and various components can create circuitry. Even though the awesome project is still in a prototype form right now, CEO Ben Lamm claims the final product will surpass all expectations.
Launching the idea of biowearables – a field beginning to take shape – the tattoo will be able to gather and upload health data in a similar way to Apple Watch or Jawbone. If need be, it can also send the information to concerned authorities, medical staff, or even the military.
Much like fashionable tattoos, this tatt is temporary and it washes off. According to Chaotic Moon, the final product will monitor body temperature, heart rate, and hydration in the body. It can also detect elevated stress levels based on sweat and upload the entire package of data via Bluetooth.
Although this is not the first project Chaotic Moon works on – it previously built fitness trackers and fire-breathing drones – Lamm said the studio agrees none were as exciting as the tattoo project. The team hopes to implement some military applications for it, as well as health applications.
He also mentioned the tattoos could also be used for location-tracking – at a concert, for example – or for making sure you don’t lose your kid at an amusement park. But as far as the attraction for military use goes, the high-tech tattoo could be integrated in detectors for pathogens in a soldier’s body or even poisons in the air. The tatt could also identify if the soldiers are hurt or stressed.
This biometric tattoo is “an eco-friendly, non-invasive use of a platform that basically turns you into a human circuit board.” No matter how promising they sound, they are far from original; cyberpunks, a strange subculture of folks like to use technological implants.
