Hitman’s World of Assassination Trailer Is Here

Hitman beta is coming next week

Ahead of the upcoming beta, Hitman’s World of Assassination trailer is here and it looks as dark and intriguing as most would expect from the franchise. Let’s hope it delivers.

  • The latest Hitman trailer is purely cinematic, with no glimpse into gameplay
  • The game will see to episodic releases
  • The first season of the game will launch on March 11th of this year on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC
  • PlayStation 4 beta will start on February 12th, and the PC beta on February 17th

The Hitman series has been an important part of gaming history for at least a few generations. It brought us into a different world, a new type of experience, and likely one of the firsts we played that centered around stealthy and well thought-out kills. In fact, it might have been the moment of inception for today’s Assassin’s Creed fans.

The upcoming title for the franchise has been deemed one of the most anticipated games of 2016, but has faltered a little. Due to problems with pre-orders and other ordeals, fans have become frustrated enough to lose faith. However, perhaps the game’s name and reputation alone will still stand for something and provide players with a beautifully crafted game.

The newly released trailer is hinting at it, providing with a potentially intriguing glimpse into the world of assassins, infinite plots, and political schemes. While there is no display of gameplay, the purely cinematic trailer shows only a hint of the potential story. “We live in a world of assassination. And once you know, there’s no going back.” says the enigmatic ending of the trail.

That offers us a clue as to how the story might progress. The protagonist only known as Agent 47 introduces us in a world where a seemingly unimportant event could affect major outcomes. Every pebble dropped has a ripple effect, and assassins are essentially the vessels of a controlled butterfly effect on our world. One person is killed, and the world avoids a nuclear world.

It’s likely that the beginning of the game will bring us back to familiar paths, with Agent 47 completing contracts for the International Contract Agency (ICA). Their point is to bring balance in a world of power, and make sure that the scale will never fall too heavily to one side. However, that is likely only the beginning.

A while back, IO Interactive announced that the upcoming Hitman game will have a structure that we might not be used to coming from the franchise. According to the company’s Community Manager, Travis Barbour,      the game will be framed in episodic releases, similar to a TV show. As opposed to having the entire game released at the same time, players will be getting the story in seasons. Given the success of the structure in other games, it’s possible that Hitman will be able to pull it off as well. However, that will require excellent writing that will keep the players hooked and keep coming back for more.

The game’s first ‘season’ will launch on March 11th of this year, but those who have pre-ordered the game will have access to the beta next week. For PlayStation 4 gamers, the beta will start on February 12th, while PC gamers will have to wait a little while longer until February 17th. That sadly leaves Xbox One owners out of the loop.

However, the game will release on all platforms, so there might yet be a beta announced for Microsoft’s console in the future.
